The history of Machu Picchu dates back to the 15th century when it was built by the Incas. The purpose of this architectural marvel remains a subject of debate among historians. Regardless of its original function, Machu Picchu was abandoned and forgotten for centuries until its rediscovery in 1911 by the American explorer Hiram Bingham.

Stones crafted at Ollantaytambo are said to be the source of those found in Machu Pichu some 32KM away through a beautiful yet very rugged terrain.

The question of who built Machu Picchu has long intrigued archaeologists, historians, and ufologist. While it is widely accepted that the Incas were responsible for its construction, the exact identity of the mastermind behind this architectural masterpiece remains a mystery. Some speculate that it was the work of the Inca emperor Pachacuti, known for his ambitious building projects.
