There is so much to like about Ft Lauderdale! Snorkeling, Scuba Diving, Cycling, Boating, Sea Doo's, Beach combing, lounging on the beach, restaurants, nightclubs, casinos. This place has it all! And the weather in the middle of winter! Spectacular! It is the middle of February, and it has been in the mid 70s to low 80s and the water has been warm and clear the whole time!
My favorite Spot
Lauderdale by the Sea
Florida is one of the most popular places in the world to scuba dive. Unlike the Florida Keys, where most the reefs are 5 miles offshore and only accessible by boat, these coral reefs are only 100 yards of the beach and an easy swim. Because of popularity with divers, Lauderdale by the Sea is known as Florida's Beach Diving Capital. There is a Shipwreck Snorkel Trail off Datura Avenue and is home to the SS Copenhagen, a British steamship that wrecked off the Town in May 1900. The wreck site is a Florida Underwater Archaeological Preserve and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Hugh Taylor State Park
Tucked between the Atlantic Ocean and Intracoastal Waterway, this peaceful sanctuary offers visitors a slice of coastal wilderness within a vibrant city.
Hot Tip: Get there early on the weekends as the parking lot fills up quick. Also, the parking is only $4 for all day. Much better than the $4 per hour you will find on the street. You can easily walk to town or take the water taxi all day for the price you would have paid to park on the street.
Activities include canoeing, bicycling, fishing, swimming, inline skating, hiking, picnicking, Segway tours and group camping.
to the Beach
If you enjoy cycling as much as I do make sure to get on the Cyprus highway and go to the beach, there you will find a bike path that follows the beach for miles and miles and miles!!
