Playa Del Carmen

Playa Del Carmen, located along the beautiful coastline of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, is a paradise for beach lovers and adventure seekers. With its crystal-clear turquoise waters, powdery white sand, and vibrant underwater ecosystem, this tropical destination offers endless opportunities for fun and excitement. Whether you're a thrill-seeker looking for adrenaline-pumping activities or someone who simply wants to relax and soak up the sun, Playa Del Carmen has something for everyone.

Snorkeling

The underwater world of Playa Del  Carmen is a paradise for snorkelers and divers.

Whether you're a beginner or an experienced diver, there are plenty of options to suit your skill level.

Head to popular snorkeling spots like Akumal Beach, where you can swim with sea turtles in their natural habitat.

Paamal Beach is an off the beaten path spot where you can swim, suntan and snorkel without the crowds.

Strap on your snorkel or scuba gear and dive into the vibrant marine life, exploring colorful coral reefs, tropical fish, and even the chance to encounter sea turtles and rays.

I would recommend the Beach Club there for
500 pesos deposit you Get a Palapa and are expected to order food and drinks.  We had the best Ceviche, Fish tacos and drinks that worked out to be the same as the deposit. with a great view right on the beach!

Relaxation and Sunbathing

For those seeking relaxation, Playa Del Carmen's beaches provide the perfect setting to unwind and soak up the sun. Grab a beach towel, find a comfortable spot on the soft sand, and let the sound of the waves lull you into a state of tranquility. The gentle ocean breeze, coupled with the warm Mexican sun, creates a serene atmosphere that will melt away your worries. Take a refreshing dip in the crystal-clear waters whenever you need a break from sunbathing, and grab a cool drink under a Palapa.

Beachside Dining and Drinking

After a day of sun, sand, and adventure, it's time to indulge in the culinary delights of Playa Del Carmen. The beachside restaurants and bars offer a wide array of delicious seafood, traditional Mexican cuisine, and refreshing tropical cocktails. Whether you're craving fresh ceviche, sizzling fajitas, or a fruity margarita, you'll find it all here. Enjoy a romantic dinner by the sea, savoring the flavors and aromas of the local cuisine, or join the vibrant beach party scene and dance the night away under the stars.

Exploring Cenotes: Unique Swimming Holes

If you're looking for a unique swimming experience, venture beyond the beach and explore the cenotes of Playa Del Carmen. Cenotes are natural sinkholes filled with fresh groundwater, creating magical underground swimming holes. These hidden gems offer a refreshing break from the beach and a chance to cool off in the crystal-clear waters. Some of the most popular cenotes in Playa Del Carmen include Cenote Azul, Cenote Dos Ojos, and Cenote Ik Kil. Take a dip, snorkel, or even try cave diving for an unforgettable adventure.

Planning Your Adventure

We rented a car and stayed in a Airbnb in the middle of town.  It was nice to have the freedom to adventure but it is possible to use a bicycle, walk, taxis and buses if you prefer.  The Airbnb experience in town was very cool!  wonder, shop, eat and repeat was our motto!  but if you prefer a full service resorts there are plenty of those as well.  And make sure to checkout these top rated experiences to complete your adventure!
